Christmas in full swing in Brussels

The tree is up, the stalls are in place and the nativity is good to go: Winter Wonders officially opens in Brussels on Friday. Many twinkly lights, however, have already made an appearance.

A bit of work on Thursday heading up to the final hours was a bit difficult, considering the weather. Thatching specialist Luc Kruyfhooft of Turnhout has given the traditional nativity in Grand’Place a whole new roof, using 500 kilograms of straw.

The five week market and holiday-related activities kicks off at 17.30 on Friday with a Christmas Parade in Grand’Place featuring light artists. The sound and light show, with illuminations on the Town Hall will also premiere.
