Cinquantenaire Park closed for Brad Pitt film shoot
Cinquantenaire Park was completely closed to the public on Monday in order to shoot scenes for the upcoming film The Riders, starring Brad Pitt.
“The police closed the park at the request of Visit Brussels,” a spokesperson for Brussels Environment told Bruzz.
“This is to ensure the safety and tranquillity of the filming. We are not permitted to say any more.”
All entrances to the park were blocked off at dawn and visual barriers were erected around the site to conceal the filming.
A spokesperson for the Autoworld museum, which had to welcome its visitors through a different entrance during the closure, also said they were “not allowed to say anything about the film shoot”.
The movie was identified by La Dernière Heure as The Riders, directed by Edward Berger, and Het Laatste Nieuws claims to have spotted Brad Pitt in the park.
Berger is best known for the film All Quiet on the Western Front.
Previous filming for his latest project has already taken place in Ireland and Greece.
Produced by A24, The Riders is an adaptation of Tim Winton’s novel in which a father and his daughter travel across Europe in search of the mother, who has mysteriously disappeared.
The cast also features renowned actors such as Camille Cottin, Julianne Nicholson and Ulrich Thomsen.
