16:28 15/07/2024

Some 13 municipalities in the capital are receiving around €1.2 million from the Bikes in Brussels Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF).

The cash injection is financing almost 1,400 new bike parking spaces, with three new cycle routes and two bike workshops to follow, announced the leading philanthropy institution in a statement.

A total of 28 new cycling projects in the Brussels Capital-Region have been funded over the past 12 months, in collaboration with schools, hospitals, local municipalities and associations.

For the past five years, the Bikes in Brussels Fund has been encouraging cycling both within and into the Brussels-Capital Region by supporting various projects from associations, the public sector or public and private partners.

The aim is to make two-wheeled travel accessible to as many people as possible by improving cycling infrastructure and facilities such as bike shelters, secure bike parking facilities, well-developed cycle lanes and dedicated footbridges.

That's around €1 per Brusseleer. Utterly pathetic.
How much money is budgeted for the car infrastructure?
