Direct flights from Brussels to Newcastle with bmi

10:25 04/03/2014

British airline bmi regional has launched its latest service, providing direct flights from Brussels to Newcastle. With the announcement of two daily return trips during the week and one on Sunday, bmi regional becomes the first airline to offer a direct link between Brussels Airport and Newcastle International.

“This year we’ve launched over a dozen new routes from British airports and our new Newcastle to Brussels service opens up opportunities for those travelling for business and for pleasure,” said bmi regional’s CEO, Cathal O’Connell.

Named the UK’s most punctual airline last year, bmi will get passengers to Newcastle in 75 minutes with its fleet of 49-seat Embraer jets. Tickets prices will start at less than 80 euros.

Newcastle International is the third British airport to be linked to Brussels by bmi regional, which currently offers services from East Midlands and Edinburgh.

What utter drivel.
For years in the 90s I flew Sabena direct to Newcastle international (and back) from Brussels international, often on the same flight as Stephen Hughes, British MEP for the North East.
To write that BMI "becomes the first airline to offer a direct link between Brussels Airport and Newcastle International" is just wrong.
This is what happens when you copy and paste from an erroneous press release without checking the facts first.

The route was served continuously by Sabena - SN Brussels - Brussels Airlines from the mid 1980s until last year.
