Elisabeth Recital with two star Korean musicians in Antwerp on 17 December

09:40 09/12/2022

Two Korean winners of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Music Competition take to the stage for a one-off recital at the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp on 17 December.

It’s the finale event in the concert series Sound Korea that kicked off in September. Organised by the Korean Cultural Center, it has showcased a variety of musical genres from the east Asian country.

The two classical musicians, both first prize winners of the annual music competition, are Ji-Young Lim (violin, 2015) and Hayoung Choi (cello, 2022). It’s the first time that the two renowned and emerging artists perform together.

When she won the cello competition this year, Choi was praised for her perfect interpretation of the music. Meanwhile, Lim was the first Korean musician to win first prize in the violin section of the competition. Since their success in Belgium, each talented artist has been performing on stages around the world.

This recital is a co-production between the Korean Cultural Center and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the Queen Elisabeth Competition. Accompanying the violinist and cellist, are pianists Rémi Geniet and Joachim Carr.

The Korean Cultural Center in Brussels is currently holding a K-pop exhibition titled K-POP NOW HERE, which runs until 21 December.
