Two acclaimed musicians, Elina Buksha and Artiom Shishkov, perform an extraordinary evening of violin duos at Full Circle in Ixelles on 8 March.
The programme spans centuries of musical genius, featuring works by Bach, Ligeti, Denissov, and Prokofiev. From the intricate counterpoint of Bach to the innovative textures of Ligeti and Denissov, and the lyrical beauty and dramatic contrasts of Prokofiev’s Sonata for Two Violins in C major, Op. 56, it offers a rich exploration of the expressive potential of the violin duo.
Winner of the Latvian Great Music Award 2012, Elina Buksha is a Latvian concert violinist acclaimed for her “capacity for fantasy and storytelling” and her “highly persuasive technical agility and individuality” (The Strad Magazine). She was the winner of the 2019 Kulturkreis Gasteig Musikpreis in Munich and joined the roster of City Music Foundation Artists in London in 2020.
Artiom Shishkov, a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, is reputed for his profound artistry and commanding stage presence. His performances have earned accolades worldwide, and he has collaborated with leading orchestras and chamber ensembles.
Together, these two remarkable musicians bring unparalleled virtuosity and expressive depth to this intimate and dynamic repertoire.
