Cyclist Greg Van Avermaet on Saturday brought home Belgium's first (gold) medal of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games after an exciting finish in the men's road race. He knocked out Denmark's Jakob Fuglsang in the spurt, while Poland's Rafal Majka followed in third place.
The 31-year-old cyclist from East Flanders completed the nearly 240km gruelling course with start and finish in Copacabana in 6:10:05.
Van Avermaet's prize is Belgium's first gold medal in the event since 1952.
