Hainan Airlines to resume flights between Brussels and Shanghai in June
A direct air link between Brussels and Shanghai should resume in June, foreign minister Hadja Lahbib announced on the second day of Belgium’s official mission to China, reports RTBF.
The connection provided by Hainan Airlines three times a week was inaugurated in 2017 but ceased in 2019 due to the pandemic
The minister discussed the subject during meetings with authorities in Shanghai and Shuzhou. “We are told that this connection will be reestablished for the month of June. On both sides, there is a desire to strengthen economic relations,” she pointed out.
The resumption of a regular connection between the Belgian capital and financial and economic powerhouse Shanghai would promote Asian tourism as well as business relations.
China is currently carrying out a “charm offensive” to once again attract foreign investors, according to several observers.
A number of Belgian companies are active in this region of the country. In March last year, Hainan Airways resumed flights between Beijing and Brussels following the lifting of China's strict Covid measures.
