Hundreds gather in Brussels to mourn victims of Orlando shooting
Hundreds of people gathered in front of the Bourse in Brussels city centre on Tuesday to commemorate the 49 victims of the shooting in Orlando. The same square became a place of solidarity, hope and love following the deadly March attacks in Belgium.
The iniator of the event, which was documented under the social media hashtag #LoveIsLove, was Rainbow House Brussels, the meeting place for Brussels' LGBTQI organisations. The memorial began with two minutes of silence for the 49 dead and 53 wounded in the shooting in the LGBTQI nightclub, followed by a long applause. Several speakers from local LGBTQI organisations then spoke to the crowd.
Belgium yesterday honoured the innocent victims of the deadly raid in Orlando by lighting up the Grand Place in rainbow colours.
