Ikea prepares to launch furniture renting in Belgium in 2020

Ikea is planning on testing furniture leasing in Belgium as of 2020. The Swedish furniture chain has already been testing this project in Switzerland, Poland, Sweden and the Netherlands and will now be testing in all 30 of its markets, including Belgium. 

The company wants to encourage the reuse and recycling of its materials by retaining ownership of the furniture. It also makes furniture more affordable and sustainable for its customers, says Jesper Brodin, CEO of Ingka Group, which runs Ikea in the Benelux.

Although Ikea is currently testing a complete furniture rental package for students in Sweden, it has not decided what form the leasing test will take in the newly added countries including Belgium. It is currently preparing a subscription leasing test for business customers.
