The International School of Brussels: Discovering a school that listens and learns
There is a unique relationship that can form between a family and the school that parents choose for their child’s education. For some students, it is a life-long relationship that accompanies them beyond the classroom and through the years. At the International School of Brussels (ISB), we understand that choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions that a family will make, and we want to support all our families in this process by listening to what really matters to them.
Providing international education to 1400 students from more than 70 countries, ISB recognizes the importance for a school to be more than just a place where children learn about history, science and geometry. Rooted in its powerful mission of inclusion, challenge and success, we want students to feel empowered, listened to, and encouraged. We want to build community and establish relationships with our families that extend across all aspects of our community life and learning. Most importantly, we understand that it is these relationships that sustain us through the most difficult of times, such as the unprecedented crisis that we have been faced with in the past ten months.
But we also recognize that we may not be the right school for everyone, which is why our approach is very much centered around you, our prospective family. When you visit ISB, we listen to your family’s story, to what you believe about learning, and to what is most important to you when choosing a new school. We want to help you make the right decision, even if you don’t choose ISB.
As an international school, families join us all year round, bringing with them the stories and cultures that make ISB such a diverse, warm and welcoming community. We are always interested in meeting new families and hearing about the kind of education that they envision for their child. Normally, at this time of year, we welcome hundreds of families to our wonderful school, offering them a chance to look around our beautiful campus and seeing the learning in action. But this year, things are more complicated. So, we have decided to open up our campus like never before and we invite you to join us.
From 25 to 28 May, ISB will host a dynamic virtual event, the ISB Discovery Week. The event is designed to be a unique opportunity for prospective parents and students to find out more about our school and a chance to meet some of the teachers, parents and students that make this such a special community.
Each day will focus on a specific ISB Division, in an exciting journey of discovery from the lower schools to the upper schools.
