Brussels’ original Ideas Festival returns from 29 November to 1 December

12:49 19/11/2024

Brussels’ original Ideas Festival returns this winter for its third edition. For a full weekend, from Friday 29 November to Sunday 1 December, Full Circle House will be the meeting point for thought-provoking ideas, stimulating activities and diverse entertainment, all coming together under this years’ theme: ‘Futures’.

In the midst of vast global, national and local political challenges, the Brussels Ideas Festival invites audiences from Brussels and beyond to explore possible futures, challenge existing narratives, imagine something new and encourage concertation on creating the future we want future generations to inhabit. It is the alternative to a world in business-as-usual mode.

Visitors will immerse themselves in a rich programme offering original formats and fresh thinking day and night. In Full Circle style, international thinkers and doers will take the stage to share their insightful visions of tomorrow and spark meaningful, deep conversations among the public.

Among invited speakers are the world’s first commissioner for future generations Sophie Howe, political philosopher Jonathan White, economist and psychotherapist Shinta Oosterwaal, world-renowned bestselling historian Antony Beevor, writer and critic Lyndsey Stonebridge and philosopher & Brusseleir Philippe Van Parijs. Local facilitators complete the picture, hosting interactive, inspiring workshops throughout the weekend.

Altogether, invited speakers and facilitators will cover a diverse range of topics, from the fundamentals of a new economy to peacebuilding, mind shifts, societal transitions, love and disobedience, and much more. New this year are a news commentary from the future, revitalising gong bath breaks, captivating short talks, mind-bending films and creative workshops. The Ideas Festival will host the Creative Writing Contest again this year and it is currently accepting entries (short stories and poetry) until 26 November.

The Weekend Pass grants access to all activities throughout the weekend – just register for each event beforehand. All events are ticketed. Weekend and day passes are also available as well as single event tickets. Some events are free and open to all throughout the weekend (registration required).
