Jazz meets classical in Brussels Muzieque concert at Full Circle on 5 July
Brussels Muzieque unites jazz and classical musicians for its final concert of the season at Full Circle on 5 July.
For the occasion, the collaborative music platform has gathered talented musicians from varying genres and origins to form a unique ensemble.
Born in Uzbekistan with Ukrainian roots, clarinettist Anton Jakimenko arrived in the Netherlands as a child refugee. Coming from a both classical and jazz background, he developed a unique sound that reflects Western music language, Slavic folklore and Eastern traditions.
Multiple award-winning jazz violinist Oene van Geel also joins the ensemble, sharing the stage with three other classical string players. They include Sarah Oates, concertmaster of the London Philharmonia, co-principal of Brussels opera La Monnaie’s second violins Maeva Laroque, and Eduardo Tonietto, cellist and artistic director of Brussels Muzieque.
Together, they will present a myriad of original compositions, some more traditional themes and a few surprises.
