Maggie De Block remains Belgium's most popular politician
Health minister Maggie De Block maintains her position as the most popular politician in Belgium, according to a poll by RTBF and La Libre, conducted by Dedicated. De Block, of the Flemish liberal party Open VLD, tops the popularity poll in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia, writes Het Laatste Nieuws.
In Flanders, De Block's popularity has gone down slightly, the poll shows, but she continues to lead the list ahead of CD&V deputy prime minister Kris Peeters and N-VA chairman Bart De Wever.
In Wallonia, De Block was also chosen as the “most popular politician”, ahead of former prime minister Elio Di Rupo (PS) and current prime minister Charles Michel (MR). Walloon prime minister Paul Magnette (PS) comes in eighth place in the ranking, behind Didier Reynders (MR), Jan Jambon (N-VA) and Raoul Hedebouw (PTB).
In Brussels, the top three politicians remain unchanged, with Maggie De Block in first place, followed by Didier Reynders and Charles Michel. Brussels prime minister Rudi Vervoort (PS) continues to lose popularity points, coming in 19th place.
The results were obtained from an internet poll taken by 2,860 people between 31 March and 4 April, 2016.
