New hotel planned for Rue Royale in 2027
Brussels is increasing its innovation in the hotel sector – with Cloud One, a new hotel with 250 rooms, planned for the end of 2027 on Rue Royale.
The hotel is an initiative of urban development firm Eaglestone and architectural agency B2Ai. It will be operated by hotel chain Motel One, which already has a hotel 50 metres away.
The new hotel project comprises two buildings. The first of these, located on Rue Royale, was until recently an office building that Eaglestone bought from Belgium’s federal buildings agency in 2022.
The other building, whose facade will also be completely renovated, is located on Rue de la Ligne. A space will be freed up in between the two, where a garden will be planted.
The total area of the project is 8,500m², including eight floors with hotel rooms. In addition, the hotel will have an underground car park with 35 parking spaces, a lobby, lounge and top floor sky bar, unfortunately only accessible to those staying at the hotel.
The space was originally planned for student accommodation, but this project was eventually abandoned.
The public consultation for the environmental permit for the new hotel project ends today, with work expected to start this year.
The building permit was already granted on 13 January by urban.brussels, the organisation responsible for implementing the Brussels region’s policy on cultural heritage and urban renewal.
Cloud One is a new addition to an increasingly busy hotel street, with the Corinthia Grand Hotel Astoria its most notable and luxurious neighbour.
The Brussels establishment will be a major new addition to the Cloud One group which comprises some 99 hotels, with more under construction or in the project phase in Berlin and Nice, as well as in Brussels.
The company says that its 27,928 rooms offer “high quality accommodation in city centre locations at an affordable price” in 13 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US.
