Nine injured after bus and car collide near European Parliament
Nine people were slightly injured and taken to the hospital after a car and a bus from Brussels public transport operator Stib collided in Ixelles near the European Parliament, according to the Brussels fire brigade.
“The Brussels Fire Brigade, medical services and the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police responded to a traffic accident in Ixelles, at the intersection of Rue du Luxembourg and Square de Meeûs,” said fire brigade spokesman Walter Derieuw.
The driver of the car was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extracted by emergency responders.
She was taken to the hospital, along with seven bus passengers and the bus driver, all of whom suffered minor injuries.
The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the police.
In total, a command vehicle, a fire engine, a rescue truck, a marking vehicle, a SMUR (mobile emergency and resuscitation service) and six ambulances were deployed to the scene, along with police officers and Stib authorities.
