Record number of passengers at Brussels Airport in April

Brussels Airport carried 1.9 million passengers in April, a record high, the airport announced Monday in a press release. The total number of passengers increased by 16.6% compared to the same period last year.

The fact that this year’s Easter holidays all fell in April played a major role in the increase in the number of passengers, which was spread across all market segments (full service, low cost, leisure and intercontinental flights).

The rising number of passengers is not accompanied by an increasing number of flights. In April this year, 19,665 flights took off from Brussels Airport, about 40% less than the 32,000 flights that departed from the airport in the same period 14 years ago.
