Air traffic in Belgium at standstill due to power failure

12:10 27/05/2015

There are currently no planes able to land or take off in Belgium due to a power outage at air traffic control centre Belgocontrol. The cause of the failure is still unknown.

Air traffic management organisation Eurocontrol announced via Twitter that there will be no air traffic in or out of Belgium until at least 16.00 today. Planes will still be able to fly over at high altitude (7 km), however, as that air space is not controlled by Belgocontrol.

Eurocontrol will provide more information and traffic updates throughout the day.
