More than 700 concerts last year in Brussels
Live concerts are a great success in the capital, writes La Dernière Heure. Despite the raised terror alert level, more than 700 concerts took place in Brussels in 2016.
Ancienne Belgique is the city's most visited concert hall, the newspaper says. The popular venue in Avenue Anspach hosted 303 concerts last year, compared to 258 concerts at Botanique and 72 at Forest National.
All of the Brussels concert halls in 2016 welcomed 25,000 more visitors than a year before, and also saw an increase in the number of homegrown artists. At Botanique last year, for example, 38% of the concerts were played by Belgian artists.
The 2017-2018 season looks even rosier. Forest National has already booked 35 concerts for the coming season, an increase of 25%.
