Brussels and Flanders to install 110 electric vehicle charging stations by September 2022
Flanders and the Brussels region will install 110 charging stations for electric vehicles by September 2022, the Flemish mobility minister Lydia Peeters and Brussels energy minister Alain Maron jointly announced on Monday
This number includes 101 charging stations for electric cars and nine shore power facilities for boats, the ministers said in a statement. The charging stations must be ready by September 2022.
These new additions to the charging infrastructure will be rolled out as part of Benefic, a Brussels-Flanders initiative to promote and implement clean power in the traffic sector. After 51 projects applied for subsidies in a third European call for projects, 11 were selected and received €1.7 million is European support.
The 11 projects under the Benefic umbrella are expected to deliver 66 standard charging points, two fast chargers and 33 ultra-fast chargers for electric vehicles as well as the nine shore power installations for inland navigation vessels, according to Peeters and Maron.
