New-look ‘Tram Experience’ returns to Brussels with Belgian menu

It’s all aboard the Tram Experience as Brussels’ unique dining venture returns to the capital from 18 September.

The city’s tramway restaurant, run by tourist office Visit.brussels, invites gourmet diners on a culinary journey with a gastronomic menu devoted to Belgian cuisine.

For the first time, it will be a collaboration between three chefs, showcasing local dishes from the three regions of the country: Glen Ramaekers (Humphrey, Brussels), Martin Volkaerts (L'Amandier, Genval) and Dennis Broeckx (L'épicerie du Cirque, Antwerp).

The culinary trio are responsible for directing Brussels chef traiteur Thibault Granville (Taste Great) who will be cooking on board the customised tram. Other local talents are due to join the gourmet express during the season.

"Before, we only worked with one Brussels chef. We wanted to give the concept a more 'Belgian' aspect, and offer a sort of tour of Belgium," said Visit.brussels press officer Noémie Wibail.

The revamped tram restaurant is scheduled to follow a green route via some of the city’s emblematic Brussels spots, including Flagey, the Tram Museum and Cinquantenaire park.

Sanitary measures will be respected on board the Tram Experience and capacity has been reduced to allow social distancing measures.
