Singer Nick Cave to exhibit own artwork in Brussels gallery
Australian singer Nick Cave will display some of his ceramic art in an Ixelles gallery this spring with an exhibition titled: "The Devil - A Life".
The pieces are a series of 17 ceramic figures meant to depict the devil's life, Bruzz reports, and they are the first official artworks by the frontman of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
“The works – and in fact all the songs I write – are about the idea of forgiveness, the idea that there is a moral virtue in beauty,” Cave said. “It's a kind of weighing up of our sins.”
Besides being a singer, Nick Cave is also a songwriter, poet, author, screenwriter and composer.
He created the ceramic works from 2020 to 2022 and this will be the first time that the artist exhibits work in Belgium, having previously displayed pieces at a museum in Finland, along with works by actor Brad Pitt.
The exhibit will be on display from 5 April to 11 May 2024 at Xavier Hufkens' gallery at Rue Saint-Joris 6 in Ixelles.
