Ryan Air CEO promises airline will stay in Charleroi
Michael O’Leary, the CEO of discount airline Ryan Air, says that flights will continue to fly out of Charleroi Airport. The announcement comes amidst fears that the airline may leave for Brussels, as 10 flights will begin departing from the nation’s capital in late February.
The media-friendly O’Learly (pictured) made it clear to reporters that Charleroi remains the airport of choice for the company in order to maintain its competitive pricing edge.
The company is setting its sights on flying 6.5 million passengers in Belgium, 1.5 million of which will travel from Brussels. However, flying out of Europe’s capital will come at a price. Passengers are paying slightly more to leave from Zaventem than Charleroi, due to higher costs at Brussels Airport.
According to the CEO, the airline has already sold 25% of its seats for March for the Brussels’ flights.
