Belgium’s federal police has announced that its latest "marathon" of speed checks will be taking place on Friday 19 April.
Starting at 6.00 on Friday, police will spend 24 hours targeting speeding motorists on Belgium’s roads.
The aim of the operation is to encourage drivers to moderate their speed and comply with the speed limits in force everywhere, all the time.
This will be the 20th marathon of speed checks that federal police have organised.
During the previous marathon in November 2023, 6.19% of people checked were driving too fast.
That is a higher proportion than in April of the same year, when 4.56% of drivers were found to be speeding.
