Street art: New mural honours Brussels’ former fish market
A school of giant fish now fittingly grace popular Brussels square Marché des Poissons in a colourful mural by Croatian artist ojoMAGico, inaugurated on Friday.
Adorning the side of a tall building in Quai à la Houille, ‘No Borders’ is the fourth collaboration between Balkan Trafik! and the City of Brussels’ Street Art Trail. The annual multidisciplinary festival is currently showing online via its own app.
Each year, street artists from the Balkan countries are invited to express their creativity in the Belgian capital. A new generation of urban artist collectives represent a renaissance in the region’s cultural and social life.
Artist ojoMAGico, real name Jadranka Lacković (pictured right), is highly active in the street-art scene in her native Croatia and abroad. In the past year she has been drawing inspiration from her home waters, the Adriatic sea.
