The Belgian Taxi Federation (Febet) is planning a demonstration in Brussels on Monday 4 March to protest against new taxes and requirements for the sector.
From 1 January 2025, taxi drivers will be required to use electric cars. Febet said that charges and taxes from Brussels Mobility will “double and even triple”.
“No budget for aid or service improvements has been granted,” Febet pesident Khalid Ed-Denguir wrote.
“The special Uber commission asked the Brussels government to set up an advisory committee. But since then, no consultation has been organised.”
Drivers plan to gather in front of the Gare du Nord in Brussels to make their voices heard.
