Two terraces reopen on top of Brussels’ Cinquantenaire Arch

18:34 25/07/2025

Two terraces atop the centrepiece memorial arch in Cinquantenaire Park are once again accessible to the public, the Royal Military Museum Brussels has announced.

“It's a well-kept secret: at the top of the monumental Arc de Triomphe in the Parc du Cinquantenaire are two terraces that offer a magnificent and unique panorama of Brussels,” the museum said on Friday.

Located on either side of the bronze chariot overlooking the Arc de Triomphe, both terraces were dismantled before being replaced.

The renovation work was carried by the Régie des Bâtiments as part of a widescale refurbishment of the site ahead of Belgium’s bicentenary in 2030.

Belgium’s federal buildings agency refurbished the roofs of all of the institutions at the site: Autoworld, Royal Museum of Art and History and the Royal Military Museum, as well as the arches.

The major project was completed in four phases, covering 31,000m2 of roof space. Access to the terraces is exclusively through the Royal Military Museum.
