Video: Hundreds gather at Mont des Arts to say no to violence against women
Hundreds of people gathered at Brussels' Mont des Arts on Thursday afternoon, to take part in a conference and accompanying 'demonstration to end violence against women and girls'. The organisers of Loud and United expected about 500 demonstrators to participate, writes Bruzz.
"In Europe, 50 women are murdered by their partner or ex-partner every week, and 120 women are killed every year in Belgium," said Elvira Buijink of the European Women's Lobby. "That's a figure that grabs the attention of both men and women."
Protesters from across Europe came together in Brussels to protest against violence against women. The well-known American feminist Gloria Steinem (pictured), who is in Brussels for the first time, joined the protest march.
