Antica Brussels fair is leading showcase for decorative arts
Antica Brussels is being staged for the first time at Tour & Taxis from 19 to 23 April. It offers the capital the excellence for which the fine art and antique fair is known: quality, eclecticism and a cosy atmosphere.
The fair is already familiar to thousands. Antica Namur celebrated its 45th edition in the Walloon capital in 2022. Each year, the annual autumn event draws collectors and art enthusiasts alike and has established itself as Belgium’s leading showcase of decorative arts, paintings, jewellery and furniture.
The new Brussels edition will continue this successful formula, focusing on 19th and 20th century art, post-war Belgian and European paintings, as well as fine antiques and objects.
An important theme for this first edition is ‘Women making art’, as Antica Brussels aims to highlight the role of women in the art sector. Through conferences, digital thematic tours, highlights and other initiatives, the fair gives visibility to artists, gallery owners, experts, collectors and other personalities who have contributed to art history.
With Brussels celebrating its Art Nouveau heritage in 2023, there’s naturally a focus on the architectural and design movement at the fair. The Horta Museum will be present with its own stand dedicated to pioneering Belgian architect and designer Victor Horta.
As is the case with Antica Namur, all exhibits have been carefully examined by a panel of independent Belgian and international experts. Three experts will be present at the fair to answer questions by potential buyers.
Join an exclusive tour
In a special collaboration with The Bulletin, Antica Brussels is offering readers the opportunity to have an exclusive guided tour of the fair in English on Sunday 23 April at 14.00. The tour will finish in style with a glass of champagne served to each visitor.
This up-close visit of some of the participating galleries and their rare and valuable paintings and antiques will provide a unique insight into the rich history of collecting in Belgium.
It’s a perfect occasion to explore one of the highlights of the capital’s spring season, discover high quality galleries and learn about the eclecticism of fine art and antiques in this country.
