Brussels Dog Olympics set to return for second year to Bois de la Cambre this May

14:57 15/04/2026

After a successful inaugural edition in September last year, the Dog Olympics is returning to Bois de la Cambre in Brussels on Sunday 10 May.

These dog-centred Olympics, located at the park's Carrefour des Attelages, offer activities for both owners and their dog(s), ideal for a family-friendly and free-of-charge day out.

The second edition of the Brussels Dog Olympics was confirmed by the cabinet of Florence Frelinx, alderwoman of public heritage, sports, green spaces and animal welfare, who organised last year’s event.

Among the range of activities proposed, dogs and their owners can compete in a canicross race of either 2.5 or 5 kilometres, or head to the Dog Village, home to varying activities and challenges.

Vittoria Marchegiani, a dog trainer present last year with canine centre Urban Dogs, told The Bulletin: “We organised an introduction to an agility course, offering structured and supervised fun for dogs of all sizes and ages. We also created an enrichment and nosework space, where dogs could explore, play, and search for treats hidden in puzzles, a doggy ball pit and other interactive setups, always with guidance and supervision.”

After proving to be one of the more popular activities last September, Urban Dogs will be returning for this year’s edition.

“We had a constant flow of participants, and the positive feedback from owners was incredible,” said Marchegiani. “Honestly, it left me speechless.”

Although the event can be seen as just a bit of fun, there are benefits for both dogs and owners, as Marchegiani explains: “Activities like agility and nosework are fantastic for building a dog’s confidence and developing their skills. They encourage problem-solving, focus, and healthy engagement with their environment.

“At the same time, they strengthen the bond between dog and owner. You learn how your dog thinks, what motivates them, and how to communicate more clearly and effectively.”

Aside from the main dog events, family activities and educational talks will also be held, with an after-party finishing off the day in the Jeux d’Hiver gardens.

To participate in any of the activities, your dog needs to be healthy and vaccinated, and you must sign up in advance through the City of Brussels website.
