European Canteen Market comes to EU district
The first edition of a new weekly evening market in the capital took place on Wednesday on Place Jean Rey. The European Canteen Market, the second evening market to launch in Brussels' European district, takes place every Wednesday afternoon. It offers local products such as bread, vegetables and cheeses, but also English, Portuguese and Greek specialties, writes Bruzz.
The concept of the market was tested and approved during the experimental European Winter Market. The new, smaller version of the market on Place Jean Rey is now a permanent fixture in th EU district, every Wednesday from 12.00 to 21.00.
The official launch took place in the presence of Brussels economic affairs minister Marion Lemesre. "This market came to fruition at the request of merchants and residents,” she announced. “It makes for a nice addition to this rapidly evolving district."
Visitors can bring their own picnic to enjoy at the provided tables or try the local products and specialties that are available.
