Mobile roaming within EU cheaper as of July 1

Using one’s mobile phone abroad within the EU will be cheaper from July 1, 2013, Het Belang van Limburg reports today. Mobile operators will have to comply with EU legislation and reduce their rates for using a mobile phone (for calls, text messages and mobile internet) abroad. A telephone conversation, for instance, may cost no more than €0.351 per minute, whereas the ceiling is currently set at €1.29. The new, reduced roaming rates will also apply to Croatia, as the country joins the European Union on July 1.
