Brussels collects 700 tonnes of aid for Gaza
Brussels has collected more than 700 tonnes of aid for Palestinians through a recent campaign that will continue until 5 May.
A centre at Brussels Expo Palace 1 is collecting items such as sleeping bags, powdered milk and hygiene products, which will then be sent to Gaza.
Organisers have already stacked 500 pallets each 1.30 metre high, totalling around 700 tonnes. The CHU Saint-Pierre is also carrying out a similar action and has collected more than €39,500 in donations.
All aid will be added to the amount Belgium as a country is sending.
“Last month, nine airdrops of humanitarian aid were carried out over the Gaza Strip,” said Belgium’s defence minister, Ludivine Dedonder, who explained that the aid will be transported by defence aircraft to Egypt, before being sent on to Gaza.
