The European Quarter celebrates 80 years of Moomin magic with parade on 10 May
Ambiorix Square in Brussels will come alive with the enchanting Moomin Parade on 10 May to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Tove Jansson's Moomin stories.
This public event organised by the Association des Commerçants Carrefour Jean Monnet (ACCJM) invites families and individuals of all ages to join in the festivities.
It kicks off in the square at 13.00 and continues until 17.30. Visitors can immerse themselves in the whimsical world of Moomins through a variety of activities.
The parade starts at 14.00, featuring beloved Moomin characters, a lively orchestra and colourful balloons. It will make its way from the square to the European Commission via Rue Archimède before returning around 16.30.
It was in 1945 that the first Moomin tale was published and since then the stories and illustration have gained worldwide fame. Cherished for their themes of kindness, creativity, and connection to nature, they have touched hearts around the globe.
This Brussels event aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Moomin characters. “Join us for a day of joy, creativity, and community spirit. We look forward to seeing you there,” says Nicole Du Jacquière, president of the ACCJM.
