Korean Film Week returns to Brussels on 1 October

17:40 13/09/2026

The 14th edition of Korean Film Week in Brussels from 1 to 4 October boasts five Belgian premieres among its diverse programme of recent releases.

Screening at Cinéma Palace and Cinéma Galeries, the line-up showcases the richness and depth of Korean cinema. At the heart of the selection, ranging from historical epic and psychological thriller, to romance, comedy and horror, is one word, ‘Intrigue’.

Presented by the Korean Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Belgium and the European Union, this year’s edition underlines why the country’s dynamic film industry has succeeded in winning over an ever-growing international audience.

The film week opens with the award-winning Korean box-office hit The King’s Warden by Jang Hang-jun (2026). Set in some of the darkest chapters of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910), the historical drama focuses on the human connections of ordinary people against a backdrop of court intrigue. Starring actor Yoo Hae-jin and K-pop idol Park Ji-hoon, it is the second-highest-grossing film in the history of Korean cinema.

This is followed by a romance, Once We Were Us, by Kim Do-young (2025) on 2 October. The intimate tale of two former lovers reuniting 10 years after their separation explores feelings, missed opportunities and ever-present regrets.

Victory 2

On 3 October, youth comedy Victory by Park Beom-soo (2024) follows a group of high school girls who transform their passion for dance into an adventure blending K-pop, hip-hop and cheerleading.

It’s a change of atmosphere in the ensuing title, Salmokji: Whispering Water (2026), as the horror movie plunges audiences into the mysterious world of Korean folklore. The psychological thriller is for mature audiences only.

The programme concludes on 4 October with the mystery thriller Confession by Yoon Jong-seol (2022). A man accused of murdering his mistress hires a supposedly infallible lawyer, but as memories resurface, truth and lies become indistinguishable.

All screenings will be in their original Korean version, with subtitles in French, Dutch, and English.
