New cinema to open in Brussels’ Docks shopping centre

Moviemills, the operator of a cinema complex in the Liège region, is opening a second cinema in the Docks shopping centre in Brussels.

The announcement was made by Marie Boutet, communications manager of Liège group Gehlen, which owns Moviemills, reports Bruzz.

It has bought the infrastructure of the White Cinema in Docks Bruxsel, which closed in February 2026. The Liège group emphasised that the acquisition involved the opening of a second Moviemills cinema and was not a continuation of the former White Cinema.

“We are completely renovating the existing spaces, while retaining the eight theatres. The renovation works are already underway,” said Boutet.

The new cinema will provide jobs for six to seven full-time employees. The team is expected to include former workers of White Cinema, as well as one person already employed by Moviemills. Based in Malmedy, south of Liège, Moviemills is a modern five-screen complex.

The former White Cinema was run by Belga Films, which is one of Belgium’s principle film distributors. It opened in the canal side Docks shopping complex in 2017 and its bankruptcy and sudden closure earlier this year was a shock for the country’s cinema industry.
