Palace announces 111 royal warrants

09:53 21/11/2013

The new King Filip has awarded warrants to 111 recognised royal suppliers, including toy shop Serneels, the palace has announced.

The new king maintains 90 of the royal warrants taken over from his father, the retired King Albert II. Of the old guard, 22 were allowed to lapse, and there are 11 newcomers to the list, including Serneels. The new royal couple have four children, ranging in age from Princess Eleonore aged five to the Crown Princess Elisabeth, aged 12.

Many of the new arrivals were already suppliers of the royal couple before the abdication in July, when the former king handed over to his son. Among the new names on the list are Pianos Maene, clothing companies Crossword and Buissonnière, plant nursery Spruyt-Van Der Jeugd, pastry shop Nadro, chocolate shop Leonidas, furniture maker LF Selection, cosmetics company Nadine Salembier Diffusion, make-up artist Bouzouk and bookshop Filigranes.

“We found out by official letter,” explained grower Nik Spruyt (pictured, with father Jan), for more than 10 years supplier six times a year to the royal house, including King Albert and Queen Paola, not to mention the royals from Denmark and Jordan. “I jumped up in the air. I'm absolutely delighted.”
