New walkway planned between Luxembourg and Germoir stations

19:20 25/10/2017

A new promenade for pedestrians and cyclists is planned in Brussels to link Luxembourg station with the fairly new Germoir train station. This will provide a convenient car-free shortcut from Ixelles to the European quarter.

Works have already begun on the 450-metre walkway, which runs along the railway lines. The first half, which will also connect to Viaduc Park, will be completed by the end of next year. The rest, all the way to Rue Gray, will be complete by the end of 2020.

Rue Gray connects Place Flagey with the Jourdan and Leopold Park neighbourhoods, so the project should make it much faster to get to the EU Quarter from this entire area.

Beliris, the agency that provides federal funds to the capital, is responsible for the €2.5 million project, with €300,000 of the total coming from the Brussels-Capital Region.
