Traffic disruption on Friday evening due to Critical Mass bike ride
Drivers in Brussels are being warned to expect worse congestion than usual on Friday evening as the latest edition of the Critical Mass cycle ride makes its way through the city's streets.
The monthly event, described as "half-party, half-demonstration" sees hundreds of cyclists set off from the Place du Trône at 18.00 and follow a different route through the capital on the last Friday of every month.
This month's route will affect traffic on the clockwise inner ring road, passing Porte de Namur, the Porte de Hal and the Gare du Midi.
The cyclists will then head along the canal towards Tour & Taxis and through the Brussels-North district, passing the site where a 38-year-old UberEats bicycle courier was killed by a coach earlier this month.
The route then crosses Schaerbeek towards the EU district, passing Square Marie-Louise, Maelbeek and Leopold Park before finishing in the Matongé district.
The Brussels/Ixelles police zone warns that delays to traffic are likely through the procession, starting from 18.00 on Friday.
Er valt verkeershinder te voorzien op 24/02 (vanaf 18u) naar aanleiding van een fietstocht. U vindt hier het parcours terug ⬇️
