Unions call for new national protest in Brussels on 23 November
Three trade unions have called for a new national demonstration to take place in the Belgian capital on 23 November, reports RTBF.
Addressing the economic hardships faced by workers, the CSC-ACV, FGTB-ABVV, and Synova unions stated: “These concerns deserve political responses that are commensurate with the stakes.”
They added that they, “refused to see the adjustment of public finances carried out, once again, at the expense of workers, social security beneficiaries and public services.”
The previous national protest held in Brussels on 9 October, which was marred by significant violence on the fringes of the gathering, was an initiative of the FGTB, supported by the CSC.
It was attended by some 30,000 protestors according to the police; 50,000 according to FGTB.
On this previous occasion, Synova did not participate in that action, unlike the upcoming demonstration at the end of November.
