'Would You React?' experiment tackles anti-Asian racism on Brussels metro

A Brussels collective has carried out a social experiment on the metro to see how passengers react to anti-Asian racism following the Coronavirus outbreak.

The latest video from "Would You React?" show three passengers of Asian origin face verbal abuse from two fellow passengers. The participants are actors.

"Get off! I don't feel safe around you," one woman tells the Chinese passengers. A hidden camera films how bystanders in the metro carriage react.

"How will Belgian commuters respond?" the video asks. "Will they leave the carriage? Or will they come to the defence of our three Asian actors?"

The video has already been viewed more than 750,000 times.

"We were surprised by the ultra-positive reaction from the majority of people who were filmed," the makers said.
