11:36

The 18th edition of Museum Night Fever on Saturday night recorded nearly 65,000 visits, marking an increase in attendance, according to organiser Brussels Museums.

Announcing its pleasure with the outcome, it said “the Brussels museum night remains a key fixture on the city’s cultural agenda, despite economically uncertain times.”

Revellers attended on average four museums during the evening; 76% of the audience were aged 16 to 35, the target group of the event.

In terms of attendance, BELvue Museum ranked first, followed by Bozar and La Monnaie. Belfius Art Gallery and ISELP also drew large crowds and achieved record figures. Proving particularly popular with visitors were tattoo artists at KBR museum and pole dancers at Contretype.

The programme for 2025 included as ever an eclectic mix of artists, from aerial acrobats to circus performers, art school students, fashion designers, singers, classical musicians, theatre makers and sign language interpreters. Also captivating the audience were local groups such as producer-dj Le Motel, drag collective CRASH-TEST and music collectives Aperohit and Indies Keeping Secrets.

The inclusive initiative Open Museum similarly reported a successful edition. In collaboration with ‘Sortir avec les mains’, the event was promoted in Belgian French Sign Language in three museums. Ten museums also received the Open Museum label for their inclusive activities.

Visitors can use their entrance bracelet for one more free visit to any participating museum until 23 November.
