EU summit disruption in Brussels from Wednesday
Expect road closures, parking restrictions and traffic delays in Brussels' EU district in the second half of this week as not one, but two, European summits come to town.
A security perimeter will be set up around the European Council building on Rue de la Loi, including Schuman roundabout and Rue Froissart, as EU leaders gather to discuss, among other things, the UK's Brexit arrangements from 17-19 October.
Only passholders will be allowed to cross the police lines. Cars parked within the security perimeter will be towed and rubbish bags cannot be left out in the street. The Reyers-Centre tunnel will be closed from Wednesday 15.00 until Friday evening and Stib bus routes around Schuman will be diverted.
Another security zone will be set up from midday on Thursday around the Cinquantenaire park, where heads of government are meeting in the park's museums for the Europe-Asia Dialogue summit, ASEM. Again, parking restrictions will be enforced and even bicycles will be removed.
