Unions take to Brussels' streets in protest
Driving throughout the Belgian capital today and tomorrow will be an even greater challenge as protesting labour unions converge with the start of the European Summit.
Commuters will have to test their patience and find new routes to work as an expected 10,000 protesters with the D19-20 Alliance are blocking key areas throughout the city.
Five locations have been targeted in an attempt to disrupt the summit. Police are strongly recommending that people leave their cars at home and opt for public transportation.
Specifically, commuters are urged to avoid rue Royale/Koningsstraat and boulevard du Jardin botanique/Kruidtuinlaan, rue d’Arenberg/Arenbergstraat and boulevard de l’Impératrice/Keizerinlaan, rue Stevin/Stevinstraat and avenue Livingstone/Livingstonelaan, l’avenue des Arts/Kunstlaan, rue Belliard/Belliardstraat and avenue d’Auderghem/ Oudergemselaan. All of these roads will be blocked.
Protesters are voicing their objection to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership agreed to between the European Union and the United States due to its secret negotiation and effect it will have on citizens.

Would have been nice to have seen this yesterday, a bit late for people who got stuck this morning.
