Prisoner stabs six guards in Forest
Six prison guards were injured on Sunday at the prison in Forest, Brussels, when a prisoner lashed out with a knife. One of the prison guards is in critical condition, reports De Standaard.
The offender is Rachid El Boukhari, who last month was sentenced to 27 years in prison on conviction of arson in a Brussels mosque where an imam was killed. When the guards came to pick up El Boukhari to go to work, he suddenly started stabbing with a knife.
The prison switched to night regime following the incident, which means that the prisoners must remain in their cells and no activities are organised.
All six guards have pressed charges against El Boukhari, who will likely have attempted manslaughter added to his prison sentence.
