Uber launches UberVan in Brussels
Taxi service Uber today launches UberVan, its third mobility option in Brussels next to UberX and UberXL for regular or limo rides. The UberVan service focuses on larger groups, such as young people out on the town. The volunteer organisation Responsible Young Drivers immediately expressed its support for the new service, writes De Morgen.
Uber has more than 60,000 users in the capital. Among them, demand is growing for more spacious alternatives to the car, especially for families on holiday or groups of friends on a night out.
"UberVan can accommodate groups of up to six people and you can also easily share the price of the ride through the app," says Joost Verdiesen, general director of Uber in Belgium.
Responsible Young Drivers is pleased with the launch of UberVan in Brussels, as it views all new mobility options as an alternative to drunk driving. It's an additional way to get home safely at night when public transport is limited, says the organisation.
