US election night: Tickets selling fast for Brussels Watch party on 5 November!

16:40 25/10/2024

With less than two weeks to go, the US presidential election remains deadlocked. As Kamala Harris and Donald Trump escalate their campaign trails, media polls on both sides of the Atlantic claim the election on 5 November will be the closest ever.

In the past week, the Democrat vice-president and Republican former president have been courting Latino votes, while also focusing their efforts on battleground states such as Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, more than 24 million people have already voted in the election as most states allow people to vote either by post or in-person at polling stations. Early voter turnout is already high, reflecting the high-stake election ahead.

Here in Brussels, discussions are underway to prepare for either scenario. One thing is sure, all eyes will be on rolling news on the night of the election.

That’s why tickets are already being snapped up for the US Election Night 2024 watch party at the five-star Le Chatelain Brussels hotel. The event is staged by and for the international community - Belgian friends also welcome of course!

The evening programme, from 20.00 until late, includes a debate between local Democrat and Republican party members, while a panel of expert analysts is invited to weigh in on the impact of the elections on transatlantic relations and geopolitics.

While waiting for key states to announce their results, attendees can test their knowledge of American politics in a prize quiz and cast their vote for candidates in a straw poll. Completing the entertainment programme is a cash bar and sale of traditional US street food.

Students from Brussels colleges as well as American students on a European study tour will be in attendance, along with several Belgian and European media covering the event.

Says co-organiser Larry Moffett: “The results of the upcoming US elections are critical for not only America, but Europe and the rest of the world. We will all be watching the results roll in and we invite everyone interested in US politics to join this election party to share the suspense.”

The watch party is organised by @seven international community with support from The Bulletin, the Press Club Brussels Europe and the American Club of Brussels (ACB).

Entrance tickets for the event priced at €15 and need to be purchased online.
