Forecasters issue storm alert for Tuesday afternoon

Belgium's Royal Meteorological Institute has issued a storm alert for Tuesday afternoon and evening.

There will be widespread showers, arriving from the west, and becoming heavier throughout the afternoon, the forecaster said.

Thunderstorms are likely in the evening, with heavy rain, gusts of wind and hail in some places.

Showers will continue on Wednesday, with more storms possible in the late afternoon. The outlook for the end of the week remains overcast and wet.
