Ryanair to connect Brussels with more than a dozen US cities
Ryanair wants to connect Brussels with 12 to 14 cities in the United States, reports brusselnieuws.be today. The Irish low-cost airline would fly to the new destinations by 2018 or 2019 at the earliest, as it is still waiting on the delivery of long-haul aircraft.
Ryanair already flies from Brussels to hundreds of European destinations, but the low-cost airline has more plans with its hub at Brussels-Charleroi. It intends to add at least 12 US destinations to its network, said CEO Michael O'Leary in La Libre Belgique.
The CEO explains that his company is waiting for the delivery of a new fleet of long-haul aircraft of type Boeing 787 or Airbus 330. It has not yet been determined which US cities Ryanair would serve.
Until further notice, according to O'Leary, Charleroi would remain the main Belgian airport for the possible connection with the US.
Ryanair is active in Belgium since 1997 at Brussels-Charleroi, and at Brussels Airport since February this year.
